How TF2TradeUps.com works

Contract odds

Every input contributes 10% probability to its collection. That collection share is split evenly across its next-grade outcomes. Mixed contracts therefore preserve the exact collection weighting of the ten inputs.

Price snapshots

Backpack.tf mode values inputs from the lowest eligible, clean sell listing and outputs from the highest eligible, clean buy order. Steam pricing and its background requests are temporarily paused. Steam sign-in and key payments remain available. Missing exact backpack.tf quotes are not estimated from another market.

The browser checks the published live-data file every five minutes. The server-side price pipeline has its own refresh schedule, so a five-minute check does not mean every item was newly quoted in that interval. The exact market-check timestamp is shown in the app.

Why a displayed price may not be tradable

A quote is a saved marketplace observation, not reserved stock. The seller can remove the listing, change the price or sell the item after it was checked. A recent check does not guarantee ten copies are available.

Input costs use sell listings because you would be buying the inputs. Estimated output proceeds use buy orders because you would be selling the result. Missing quotes leave profitability unconfirmed; they are not zero-value outcomes. Marketplace cooldowns can delay refreshes, so check each quote’s timestamp before trading.

Understand buy orders, sell listings and key/refined spreads, or compare direct purchases with repeated trade-up attempts.

Limits

Opportunity Board rows are theoretical rankings based on one cheapest ask multiplied by ten. Listing depth, availability, Steam fees, taxes and slippage are not included. War Paint and decorated-weapon wear markets can be thin; always verify the exact item and wear before trading.

Report a pricing or collection error

Contact Breadbot, the site operator, on Steam. Include the page URL, item name, Strange or Non-Strange quality, exact wear if relevant, the quote timestamp and the marketplace listing you compared. That helps distinguish a wrong item match from a listing that changed after the snapshot.
